Kids say the darndest things No. 1

The joys of having a little one roaming around the house, with her cute little child comments. Let me explain...

Sunday after church I was lying on the bed admiring my sparkling ring in the afternoon sunshine. When in walks my 7 year old munchkin sister. She plops down beside me and intently stares at me till I decide to pull my eyes away from my sparkles to look at her.
She asks "Aerika? Why do you always wear that ring Curt gave you?"
I answered "Well it's my engagement ring it means we're getting married."
Munchkin: "I already knew you were getting married but tell me why you always wear that ring."
Me: "It tells everyone that I am getting married and that I am off limits and I won't date anyone else. It is a symbol of Curt's love for me."
Munchkin: "But you don't wear it when you're at work..."
Me: "No, I don't because I don't want anything to happen to it or for it to get dirty."
Munchkin: with apparent concern on her face  "Well does your boss know you're getting married"
Me: "I am the boss. But I work with another boy in the morning."
Munchkin: *gasps* "Does he know you're getting married?"
Me: "Yes he does and he has a girlfriend so its ok."
Munchkin: "What about the owner? Does he know you're getting married?"
Me: "Yes he does and he is married too."
Munchkin: obviously satisfied leans back on me "Oh good because Curt would be very sad if anyone didn't know he loved you and you were engaged and getting married in the temple and they tried to take you. But that won't happen."

She smiles,  pats my arm, hugs me and leaves my room.

Out of the mouths of babes. I love my little munchkin sister. She says the funniest things and I am so glad that she is here and chose to be in our family never a dull moment with her around ;) I love her

ENGAGED!!!... Say what???

Yes it is true :) I am engaged!!! :) I got proposed to October 1st, 2010 :)

First off it was a big day anyway... My Oldest Brother Joshua came home from his 2 year mission South Korea :) That morning we went to the Salt Lake Airport to pick him up. Aunt Dee Dee, Aunt Shirley, Uncle John, Kayleen, Katlyn, his old roommate Brett, and our whole Family :) (including my now fiance ;))

His flight got in at 11:10 but we didn't get to see him till 12:00 roughly because of customs and everything he had to go through to get his baggage and stuff :)

We were all so excited to have him home :D We stopped at Papa's to get pizza for lunch :) We talked for hours and heard lots of stories :) Joshua powned Dad and T.J. in Ping Pong :) Then Joshua had a Missionary Reunion that night so my parents took him to it.

While they were gone Curt came and we went for a Picnic. We went and got Olive Garden To Go and went the the Amphitheater across from the Mount Timpanogos Temple. We ate and talked and then he said it was getting late and if we waited to much longer they'd close visiting hours to go see Leslie and Joey's new baby. So we got up to leave and he hugged me and walked me backwards to the trees behind us so that we were hidden from the other couples walking around. He asked about my last name and how I'd like to be Newman and I said "No thanks I'd rather stay a girl." He said "How about a New-wo-Man?" and I said "Well that won't work your last name is NewMan not New-wo-Man." He said "We'll work something out." Got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I was so terribly confused I couldn't figure out what he was doing. Then I realized, only one problem he had a hold of my right hand. So I pointed it out by saying you have the wrong hand. So he quickly switched hands and I said yes. We then went and saw our newest nephew, and showed the ring to his mom, sister-in-law, and brother. Then we went for ice cream with his Dad and Step-mom. Then we went back to my house to show my family. Long day :P But sooooooo Great!!!

So I am soon to be Mrs. Aerika Celeste Larsen Newman. :) On March 4th, 2011 in Mount Timpanogos Temple to be sealed for time and all eternity :) I'm sooooooooooooo incredibly happy words cannot describe the Love I feel for my Handsome Man :)

Labor Day

Sorry I haven't posted lately. I have gotten stuck in a rut and have been re-adjusting to things :P

Well since chopping my hair off I have left my job at the salon. It was slow and I was making absolutely no money (not a good thing) so I quit there and I am now just doing friends and family's hair out of my house or at their houses. I went back to the one place I never said I'd return ... dun dun dun... Papa Murphy's :( I am an assistant manager now with manager responsibilities at the Lehi store, it is money, so I can do it. The change is killing me right now. I worked over 40 hours this last week.

Saturday the 4th my bestie Eva Petersen now Christensen got married to her love of 4 1/2 years Anthony Christensen. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple at 12:20pm. I was one of her bridesmaids. She looked beautiful (Ant is one lucky man) and he looked like a total stud :) They were so happy and just the cutest couple I know :) I wish them many, many happy years to come :) With GORGEOUS children as a result ;)

Monday was Labor Day as usual we went to Labor Day breakfast with my daddy's family. We met at 8 in the morning blah, mornings and I are not on friendly terms in life. My Handsome Man met us there so he could meet some more of the family. It was fun to see everyone and talk with family. Even though every person that saw us together asked if we were engaged... haha... no no we aren't, just a happy couple. Stop asking we'll let you know if it ever happens. ;) We had breakfast at 8 in the morning we ate and visited. Curt met the Larsen side of the family (luck guy haha) he played football with my brothers and my younger cousins while I chit chatted with the women. I started work at noon 45 that day and worked until 9:45pm. So my first full day back on the job and I'm there for 9 hours ... joy.
Then on Tuesday I worked 10 hours.
Wednesday I worked 6 1/2 hours then went to the temple with My handsome man. We went to the Provo Temple only to discover they wouldn't let him baptize me AND we had to have our own names... darn. So we went to the Mount Timpanogos Temple again. That seems to be our place to go, and what a beautiful place to go :)
Thursday I worked another 10 hours.
Then Friday I worked 9 1/2 hours, then went on a ward Daddy/Daughter camp-out with my Daddy and sisters :) We had a bonding time and lots and lots of giggles :) I love my Daddy and Sissies :) Besides freezing to death that night I really enjoyed myself :)
The next morning we went to Utah Lake with the Man and his Dad and Stepmother. Unfortunately Mom and T.J. couldn't go because T.J. had piano lessons. I got fried of course just my luck right??? The man is a great water skier and knee boarder :) He's also a little bit of a show off ;) it's cute. Alise did some awesome skiing and knee boarding herself :) Michael tried to ski too and he did pretty well also. Aimee got to go on the knee board with the man, she had a blast she also went on the water weenie (we all came away in one piece with no injuries ;) yay!!!) and she even got to drive the boat :) Milt is so nice to her she had such a great time :) After the lake we all went home and showered off the scum. Then Curt and I went to my best friends Liam and Sierra Fischbacks open house to visit with them. Then we went to the Timpanogos Temple to walk around the grounds and just talk. Then we went by Lowe's to get his mother a birthday present (I know, strange place for a gift but she needed Pavers Sand for her fire pit that Curt is building in the backyard.) Then we read some scriptures together, prayed then he went home. He called me at midnight 30 to tell me that he ran out of gas and had to wait for his dad to come pick him up :P oh that man haha how I adore him.
Sunday I woke up at 6:30am to get ready I went up to the man's sacrament meeting at 9 with him, then his we along with his mother went up to Layton to go to church with his sister and her kids, then we went to Logan for a family birthday party for all the people's whos birthdays are in September. i.e. Macy, Kate, Curt and Nan (His mom). We had cake and games and they opened presents. We talked with the siblings and played card games and just enjoyed everyone's company :) I finally got home at about 11:45pm ish I spent 16 hours with him and his family haha :) It did not feel that long.
Yesterday it was back to the grind. I worked from 9-3:30 and was told that morning that I would be taking over half of the manager responsibilities split with my other assistant manager Cord because our Manager Michele resigned. Which means more work but more pay too :) can't complain there :)

Other than that, that is all that is going on right now :) life is happy and going great. TTFN Ta Ta For Now

Gone again...

So my momentous occasion isn't so momentous anymore... I got bored at work and I need a trim anyway because I am hard on my hair and I haven't done anything to it since between March and June so I figured it was time ... However... I was growing quite the mullet so I cut up the back well needless to say it is short again NO... MORE... PONYTAIL :'( but I really love this new cut it's kind of like Victoria Beckham's A-line... Hopefully now I can just let it all grow out even long again :) Here's the new cut.
Face just for my mom ;)

The Windy City of Utah

I know it is said that Chicago, Illinois is the Windy City. I beg to differ that point. I believe that Highland, Utah is the Windy City. We just get a great wind flow here, probably due to the fact that we are located at the mouth of a canyon but still, we get some great gusts.

Yesterday for example... We had wind blowing hard and fast, with some occasional raindrops pelting you from all angles... Ouch. Michael tried leaning into the wind with his jacket hoping it would hold his weight, I told him he needed a sheet his jacket wouldn't be enough. So they held out the sheets like superhero capes, I told them hold the top two corners, stand on the bottom two, hold your arms straight, and lean into the wind it will work like a parachute and hold you up here are the valiant efforts of Michael, T.J., and Aimee.

Last the Boys got it :) (a little blurry but oh well)

This was the Sunday evening entertainment after dinner, this kept them out there for nearly an hour. Laughing, frustrations, and toppling children makes for a great day :) -minus the fact that now our satellite is still trying to recover from our rainy-wind storm ;) my poor brothers ... no T.V. :( haha oh well
