So after my happy posts lately now I have a sad post... It is a clump of sad! They said bad things happen in three's so I am hoping that these 3 sad things that happened all in a row means we're done and can enjoy the happiness yet to come in our life!
First sad news, we came to the very sad conclusion on December 8th, 2013 that we did not have the time for our puppies as we once did. This broke my heart! We decided they would be better suited in homes where they could get the attention and training they deserve and need. So I posted them on KSL bawling the whole time I wrote their descriptions. If I had to tell my younger self that one day you will have two dogs and you'll decide you don't have time for them and you'll sell them. I wouldn't believe myself it breaks my heart and makes me feel like a terrible terrible person! I got a text about my precious Bandit within a matter of hours asking if I still had her. I confirmed I did and the lady starting asking me more about her, her personality, her mannerisms, any quirks or issues. She said that she had two younger girls and they had been looking for a dog, they thought she was beautiful and that she would be the perfect fit for her and her girls. We were heading down to Salt Lake that weekend so Curtis could work on the baby room furniture and I could go to Candy Making Day. We told her that we could arrange for Curtis to meet with her so she could see Bandit in person before deciding if she wanted her. Curtis would have the dogs with him while he stayed at his dad's house to work on the furniture, I would keep Bo with me at my parents for candy making day. Bo was only a week old at this point and still required 3 feelings a day and could not be left at home without me. Curtis arranged for the lady and her girls to come meet Bandit on Friday night, my mom and I had to take some Christmas stuff to Curtis(he was helping my mom with a Christmas surprise for my dad). We got there right before the lady was about to arrive. I told my mom we needed to hurry and leave because I couldn't watch my puppy leave with someone else. We were pulling out of the driveway right as the lady pulled up, Curtis told me he would call me and let me know what happens, I told him to tell her that if for whatever reason she didn't work out I wanted her back so she wasn't being moved from home to home. Curtis called me 25 minutes later to tell me that Bandit was gone... I just cried my mom rubbed my leg (she was driving) and Curtis even got a little teary he said it was harder than he thought to let her go. So we decided we would keep Ruger for a while to see if we could handle just one dog.
Second sad news: we decide after a week of just having Ruger he still wasn't working out either. The little stink would climb, literally, out of the dog run; he would hook his paws through the fence and climb up and out. We tried to put more fencing on the top corners to keep him in but he would climb on top of those and jump out too. As well as he refused to be potty trained! I mean REFUSED, he knew he wasn't supposed to but did it anyway. So we reposted his ad still with heavy hearts but feeling this was definitely better as it was crucial for him to stay in the dog run while we were at work, he needed room to run and be with people more often. A couple from Kaysville wanted to come see him and asked if they could bring their other dog with to make sure she was going to get along with him. We told her that was not a problem feel free, they came on the morning of Saturday December 28th. They just kept saying how gorgeous he was and so sweet which describes Ruger perfectly!!! He is beautiful and very loving, they asked a lot of questions about him and ultimately decided they wanted him. They got out a collar and leash and took him away, the wife asked me if I was sure I was okay with it she knew I am expecting and wanted to make sure I wasn't going to cry, which I didn't this time I was still very sad but this family was a better fit for him. They had 2.5 acres and a farm like us so he would have room to run and they were home all day with him too. So with both our puppies in what we hope to be better homes and my Mr. Bo growing up and living with the goats full time (except for feeding he would come inside still) our house felt suddenly empty... I was surprised by how suddenly it took hold.
Sad news three I wrote this through tears I am sorry if it rambles or doesn't make sense even proofreading proved difficult: this one is still kind of fresh for me and my heart is still trying to heal. December 30-January 4th Bo was on one feeding a day, I fed him at night so that he would go to bed on a full belly. The following week we would bottle feed him Monday, Wednesday, and Friday to complete the weaning to full time hay and grain. January 8, 2014 started as a normal day, I got up to get ready for work, Curtis went to feed animals for the morning feeding, I went to work, Curtis came in to town a little later to run some errands, we got home, had dinner, ran another errand before the animals were ready for nighttime feedings. When we got home I said it was probably about time to feed Bo, I started to make his bottle as Curtis went out to turn on the heating lamp for the chickens(did I mention we have egg laying mommas? I don't think I did well we have 4 chickens we love the eggs!) and bring Bo inside. I'm going to paint you our nighttime feeding picture.
I mix up his bottle and sit on the kitchen floor just inside our back door and wait to hear his little hoofs pounding up the back steps and start to kick on the door to be let in. Curtis eventually catches up opens the door and I hold open my arms as Bo runs and leaps into my lap looking for his bottle. He then guzzles all 16 oz like a champ before nudging me (in the normal mommy milk areas haha) for more. I have to tell him he's had enough and Curtis takes him back out with the goats where he will finish filling up on hay and grain.
This has been our routine for the last 3 weeks since becoming a big boy and living outside. Curtis was taking longer than usual and baby girl was using my bladder as a trampoline so I took a moment to relieve myself while I was waiting. I heard Curtis walking up the steps but no Bo hoofs, I thought maybe it was too icy for him so Curtis was carrying him, it's been known to happen. But Curtis walked in... Alone and empty handed. He looked very distraught, I asked him where Bo was did he forget him, hoping Curtis was just playing a trick on me. He said he's gone! I thought he meant he had jumped out of the corral and run off, Bo could jump out of the gate and he would when he heard us or knew it was feeding time. I asked Curtis where and if he had looked for him we need to find him he'll starve. Curtis said not like that, he was walking down to the goat corral and there was no sound coming from it, usually Bo hears us and starts crying and freaking out because he wanted his bottle and then Lucky and Snowflake would join in asking for hay. But he said as he approached there was no crying at all, thinking they were all sleeping he entered and saw Lucky and Snowflake standing at the front of the shelter blocking Curtis's view of Bo, they usually weren't that protective of him and he didn't usually ignore us coming for him. He moved them aside and he say Bo laying there not moving, not crying nothing. So back inside again he told me he's gone, I started bawling instantly he was my baby, I nursed him, loved him, bathed him, played with him how is he gone? Through my tears I asked what happened, he said he didn't know, he just saw him and he's gone. I sat on the floor to continue my body shaking sobs, Curtis held me for a little bit and just let me cry. I asked where he was, he said he put him in the shed I said good I don't want him in with the goats. Curtis said he'd give me a minute, went back out to the goats to feed them, came back about 5 minutes later asking what I thought we should do with him. I didn't want to think about it I wanted to feed my Bo baby, I wanted our nightly routine. Curtis says the ground is too hard to dig him far enough for him but we couldn't leave him in the shed because he may attract animals. I retorted I didn't want him outside in the open either to be eaten by animals. So Curtis took a garbage bag and went to cover him as best he could until we could figure out what we were going to do for him. My mom called me to talk and told me how sorry she was for me, but to remember my blessings and take care of the other baby that needs me. I then called my uncle Dave who is my farming confidant so I could talk to him, he said he was really sorry for me and that farming life is hard sometimes, he said I am too much like him and care for my animals too much. The thing that was the hardest for me is he was 6 weeks old that day, and seemed perfectly healthy there was no foreseeable signs that there would be a problem. Dave said he may have choked on some hay or gotten sick very suddenly and that took him he said that is the hard thing with the reject lambs they could have all kind of problems that we can't see or know about, and with him being born in the winter that certainly didn't help his chances. So I no longer have my little wooly shadow, no more fist/head bumps, no more who's the boss, no more snuggles while in a milk coma, no more sheepy cries.
So with these hard times in the past I am hoping that Murphy's law is done with us for a while we have a lot of happiness coming our way and I want to be able to just enjoy it!!! Here's to happiness in 2014!

Little BO Peep
So Curt and I have talked about getting a lamb so that our kids can mutton bust! We didn't think we would get one so soon! On Dec 4th the cutest little lamby was born, Mr. Bo Jangles! He was a triplet, first born and curious, he was up and walking around before mom gave birth to his siblings. After she was done she took the other two and went back with the herd leaving Mr. Bo all on his own. The shepherd took Mr. Bo to his momma and she didn't want him, so the shepherd posted him online because he didn't have the time to bottle feed him. So Curtis texted me and asked if we could get a bottle lamb, I agreed. Thursday Dec 5th we brought home our baby Bo. He was supposed to be Curtis' responsibility, he was out of school for the Christmas break and was home with the dogs anyway and could feed him.
This was the day we brought him home!
The first night we had a heating lamp and put him in the corral with the goats for body warmth. Curtis made up his bottle the next morning to go feed him and he wouldn't eat :( We thought that maybe since it was so cold the bottle was cooling off on the way down to the corral and he didn't want it. So we brought him inside to stay, he still didn't eat super great but he was eating better. It was so cold the next few weeks, we were in negative temps and single digits so I made Curtis let us keep him inside because I didn't want him getting sick. So he did.
He lived in the bathroom with the dogs for a few weeks, he slept in the kennel and played with me in the bathroom most of the time. We found out after the first two days the original nipple we bought was too big for his little mouth so we went to get a smaller one. Then he started eating like a champ!!! After feeding time we snuggle
and play for a little bit before the milk coma sets in...
sometimes we snuggle together while he has his milk coma nap
My dad called me little Bo Peep because I had a lamb and just like Bo Peep he follows me EVERYWHERE!!!
Sweet little thing never leaves my side. Curtis feels a little left out because
1. this was supposed to be HIS lamb and
2. I spent hours in the bathroom with Bo because he is a herd animal and I knew he didn't want to be alone. He quickly became my baby, I feed him, clean up after him, played with him, everything.
I took him to Candy Making Day with me because I went for the weekend and couldn't leave him home because he was still eating 3 times a day he was only a week old at this point. My mom did not enjoy having a lamb in her house people... apparently he stinks BAD... he made my mom gag on
several occasions. I don't think he stinks but my mom says that's a mothers love.
Michael watched him for me while I broke down and bought maternity pants finally! When I came home it was the cutest thing I have ever seen, we have our game Bo and I, I ask him who's the boss and he will buck and rear around to show me he is the boss. Well when I came back from my errand and Uncle Mike's babysitting, he had taught Bo to fist bump, he will say "give me some Bo" and he will head butt your fist! It was the cutest thing I have ever watched!
One last story, I have plenty, I don't know if you noticed much but poor Mr. Bo Jangles has a tag in his left ear! It hangs right in his eye I am pretty sure he was tagged in the wrong spot, but the studded end pokes him constantly in eye. I didn't really notice that it was affecting him much, but after he started to live with the goats outside when he would come in for feeding time his left eye was watery and droopy! So on New Year's Day while Joshua and Bailey were here I held Bo close so Dad(Curt) could cut the terrible tag out of his ear!
We got it out! His eye is doing much better and he is greatly enjoying life free with the goats and eating lots of leafy hay! He will be fully weaned Jan 10th that is his last bottle then he will be a hay eating machine! I love this little lamb with my whole heart he is preparing me for motherhood and I am so excited for what the future will bring for us!

Then there were two!
So I am really behind on this post but on Labor Day we got Bandit a playmate! Meet Ruger!
He is Australian Kelpie/Red Heeler mix look at his little fox face!!! I can't tell you how darling I think this little boy is! Which is a good thing because he is a pill!
He loves to give kisses which usually I don't mind but he gets carried away and they turn to nibbles OUCH! He is a great jumper and never hesitates to remind us of that. He loves to climb, yes you read correctly, CLIMB up the kennel fence to reach us if he isn't let out with us. But he is the best cuddler, he is perfectly content if you will just let him sit by you and pet him.
We were worried about him as the first the man we got him from was not too kind to him, we were nervous that we would be afraid of Curtis. We were wrong! He loves dad, he wants to follow dad, play with dad, cuddle dad, he will do anything to make dad happy! He certainly has made our lives more hectic but we love him and Bandit is very happy to have a friend!

Now I know!
Now I know the reason why,
I seem to be tired all the
time!
I went on a stick,
and what do I see,
But TWO purple lines,
staring back
at me!
My heart jumps a bit,
what shall I do?
This could change things-
A
little life, brand new!
I go to the doctors,
they have me go in a cup,
yes, I
see now why scent of fish makes me want to throw up!
It's now been 14 weeks, you're growing so fast!
I just hope the button on
these pants will last!

The Lord doesn't call the qualified, he qualifies the called.
*WARNING LONG POST AHEAD*
So we moved into our house May 11, 2013 with lots of help from family, and we had a great time. We still aren't fully settled yet but we're looking forward to summer and weekends to get settled. Our second Sunday here May 19, 2013 we got a call from Tim, the gentleman we bought our home from, asking if he could come over to speak with us. Now I must have a guilty conscience or something because I started wondering what we did or why he would want to come over and talk to us. Mind you he is not in the bishopric, elders quorum, our home teacher, or in the stake that must mean something is wrong. He came over that evening and I was trying to remain calm and act like it's not big deal that he is coming over maybe he just wants to see how we've settled in or something just being a nice neighbor, but he seemed just as nervous as me. He started by saying, "well I am not really sure why I am here but... I'm in the Pageant Presidency for the Martin Harris Pageant and we have been holding auditions since the beginning of April for the leading roles. We have filled all of them.... except two... we are missing two fairly crucial parts... Joseph and Emma Smith. We have had people audition, just not anyone we thought would be a good fit. We've been praying to find someone that could fill those callings. Today when you gave the opening and closing prayers in sacrament meeting I pointed you out to the director as the couple I kept thinking about. After the meeting she turned around and nodding said 'ask them.' So here I am asking you if you would be willing to be in the Pageant? We don't extend formal callings to be in the pageant but we, as a presidency, have felt impressed to ask you to be part of the production no audition required."
Curtis's face was priceless, he looked pale, like someone had slapped him in the face with a fish! He finally managed to respond, "you mean you are asking my wife right? I've never acted a day in my life. If you want me to help with stage crew stuff you got it, but I am not an actor. I'm black and white, if I am upset you know it if I am happy you know it I'm not good at playing emotions." Tim told him the offer was extended to both of us, "We've seen miracles happen with the pageant and if the Lord wants you to be in the pageant he will bless you." Curtis continued to protest and Tim kept trying to convince him. As Tim was leaving he said pray, fast and think about it I'll get your answer in a week or so. For two weeks I prayed for the Lord to soften Curtis's heart and get him to agree to do the pageant. I also tried to drop hints about being in the pageant. Tim approached us two weeks later at church and ask if we had made a decision. I responded "I say yes", and I looked to Curtis waiting for his answer and praying he'd say yes. "When are practices?" Tim told him "Tuesdays and Thursdays for now but it will change as the pageant gets closer." "I guess it's worth a shot...." Curtis said it as if he were defeated. I wanted to cheer I think Tim did too. He gave us the information about practice and said he was so pleased we would be a part of it.
We practiced from May 21st until the show started, Curtis did have a hard time at first he felt a little overwhelmed with everyone trying to be... "helpful" after they found out he had never acted but instead they just made him more nervous. They kept reminding him he was playing the prophet, he needed this emotion or that emotion, think about it like this. He was getting enough of that from me he didn't need it from everyone else in the cast. He did get it down though opening night, I didn't even think it was him he did so great! I have never been more proud of him in my life. The director told him they have never had a better Joseph than him. We had our picture taken by A LOT of people because Curtis looks so much like the prophet. I have never thought him to look like Joseph but when he was in costumer with his hair and make up done he looked like Joseph. I ended up dying my hair a really dark brown nearly black so I wouldn't have to wear a wig.
One night we had a descendent of Joseph and Emma Smith come to the show. He and his wife were the producers of the movie Emma Smith: My Story, he is one of the first Smiths to rejoin the church. So no pressure he's only a descendent and a movie producer...
He said that we did a great job, he asked where Curtis was when they were looking for a Joseph for the movie. He told me I had a likeness to Catherine the woman that played Emma in the movie I thought that was a great compliment.
Curtis says that it was a lot better experience than he thought it was going to be. We loved the cast we had the privilege to meet and work with so closely and for the testimonies we gained. Everyone says that you get great blessings from being in the pageant we will see if that is true and even if we don't see any other blessings we were blessed to be a part of it and to gain the testimonies we did.

Children, children everywhere
So not long after we moved in (we probably had lived here about 2-3 weeks) the 2nd counselor in the Bishopric came over and we assumed it was to speak in sacrament meeting to introduce ourselves to the ward... it wasn't. We were given our first calling in our new home ward. We were called to be primary teachers for the 9-10 year old children.
We have 6 boys and 3 girls, and oh are they a handful! There is one boy that never comes/moved/we've never met I'm not sure the whole story on that, and two girls that only come every once in a while. They are at the fun age where it's all about cooties! The girls sit on one side of the room the boys sit on the other, and if Sadie(our little girl that is there all the time) is the only girl besides me there she will sit up front by me so she doesn't have to be alone. They are also at the last stage before they separate into their own gender classes.
They certainly keep things interesting, to say the least. A few weeks ago we were talking about the 3 degrees of glory and one of the boys had asked me where hell was. I tried to explain that the Terrestrial and Telestial Kingdoms are kind of like hell because we are not in God's presence. Then I had to explain further because they looked confused, so I drew a big black dot on the whiteboard and told them that was outer darkness that is what would be "hell" that is where Satan is and the 1/3 people that chose to go with him in the war in heaven. We were reading scriptures about what type of people go to which kingdom so they asked who would go to outer darkness. Curtis interjected and said that very few people from Earth go there, I explained that Cain would go there because he walked with and knew God but chose to obey Satan. Since he had a perfect knowledge and he knew what was right and wrong without question then he killed his brother because Satan told him to he will go to outer darkness because he chose to follow Satan. Then the boys(bless their hearts) shouted that Cain is Bigfoot... I started laughing SO HARD! Apparently that is a common rumor among members of the church? I have NEVER heard that before. I was trying really hard to get it under control but they kept stating the facts... 1. He was cursed to roam the earth forever. 2. That would mean he probably didn't speak English very well because they didn't speak English back then. 3. That would make him really hairy because he probably doesn't ever shave because he has to hide from everyone. I had to hurry and put a cap on that because I was going to lose my cool if they kept going so we continued.
Then when we were reading the scriptures about who goes to what kingdom and one of the scriptures Doctrine and Covenants 76:103 says "These are they who are liars and sorcerers and adulterers and whoremongers and whosoever loves and makes a lie". Our kids were amused by some of the words so they as what sorcerers were I said people who believe in and practice magic and spells. They asked what adulterers were... this one was a little harder to explain so I said it is someone who is married and decides to be unfaithful or have an affair, they were satisfied. They then asked me amongst many giggles what a whoremonger was... oh dear how to explain this one without digging a hole or stepping past my boundaries and how the parents wanted to teach their children... after a pause Curt looked at me as if to say "go ahead smarty how are you going to explain this one". I started off kind of slow and hesitant being careful which words I chose. "Well they are people who sell their bodies for money" The boys all seemed satisfied with the answer and kind of nodded (I'm not sure if it was in understanding or if it was because they didn't want to push further) but sweet little Sadie still seemed confused she replied "like for work and stuff?" I put my hand on my face... what now? "No not necessarily Sadie... for bad things". "Okay...? I still don't get it but it's okay go ahead with the lesson". Then one little boy Isaac piped in "LIKE THE BAD PARTS OF YOUR BODY SADIE!" "Oh..." her face went red and I hurried on to the next section.
Having such a big class does have it's tough times though with listening being reverent and the like. I have a really loud whistle the kind where you put your fingers in your mouth and the whole town can hear you. I have had to use this as an attention getter a time or two or at least once a week to get their attention. So for the month of July I made them a deal if I didn't have to whistle all month long they would get a party. It was hard for them but they did it! So we will be having a party sometime in August and now I have to think of another bribe every month till the end of the year so we can keep the peace in class...

And along came Bandit!
So Curt and I had talked about getting a dog but we also wanted to wait until we were settled in a little more... I wanted a dog as soon as we found out we were moving into a house. Curt wanted to wait years 2 years... we finally agreed on a year and a half. That only lasted a month...
Curt's sister in law's neighbor got a dog for their daughter and didn't think she wanted it so they said she needed one more week of caring for him then if she didn't want him we could have him. He is a Border Collie/Sharpei mix. So we were prepared to get a dog but then they said they needed more time with him so I decided to start looking for another dog just in case they decided to keep him. I found this beauty...
She is the sweetest dog! I found her for free on KSL my co-worker and I fell in love with her she is gorgeous! She was in Weston Idaho and my co-worker grew up there so we left after work and went a picked her up so I could bring her home :) Curt didn't like that idea so much. He didn't get to help pick her out and she is so mellow which is a good thing but she had no interest in playing fetch or in playing at all plus she wanted to fight my neighbors dogs... So my co-worker that helped me pick her up said she wanted her for a playmate for her other dog. She has her now and I am sad without a dog but I know that she is happier with Copper and Holli than here with us.
I no longer get to sleep in because she is used to being up early during the work week to go out to relieve herself in the morning, but I can't imagine not having her! She makes everyday an adventure and she is always giving me great stories to tell. I love my little Bandita!

Meet Tootsie! Lab, Border Collie, Boxer Mix
So we had Tootsie Thursday night, Friday day and night and Saturday gave her to Holli and picked up Bandit. Curt showed me some cute puppies in Cove, Utah that were German Short hair(Pointers) and Blue Heeler mix. We decided those would make good dogs so we tried to call the guy but he never answered. Another set of puppies(same breed) came on in Bear River, Utah so we called him and scheduled a time to see them. On June 30th we picked up our first puppy!
She is too cute! I love her so much and she has the funniest personality! It is kind of weird to have a dog other than Jackie who I have had since I was 9 years old. It's funny how different, different breeds are. We have had her 5 weeks now she is 17 weeks old, she has grown so much it kind of makes me sad I want her to be a puppy forever! She is the floppiest dog you'll ever meet. Playing tug of war isn't even really a game if she wants to lie down and growl in the middle she will and you can drag her all over the floor until she decides she is ready to stand up again. She loves to grunt, sigh, and whine when she is upset about a situation or wants you to know she doesn't approve. She is kind of a chicken dog she is very shy and timid when faced with a new situation until she decides she is comfortable with it. If something is her idea she is all for it but if not she gives you this look like "Really, you want me to do what now? I don't think so." She has recently, about a week or two ago, realized that she is part cow dog and has started to herd to goats when we go check on them it is darling. Just yesterday she realized she is part bird dog too and stood in perfect point Curt looked down and back up and she was darting after a sparrow she saw. Now the big training begins so she can know what is okay to chase and herd and what is not. She loves to jump on people and be chased.

Look at that face! Can't stay mad at this cutie for long.

She is a silly sleeper, this is her favorite sleeping position.

She uses the scale for her pillow a lot. I think she needs a real pillow.
